Joshua Scott is a marketing speaker and consultant. He has been speaking to large groups for over 20 years and has spent the last 15 years in the dental industry. He works with businesses and organizations around the country to create confident marketing strategies.
He owns Studio 8E8 (pronounced “88”), a creative marketing firm specializing in brand creation and digital marketing solutions. He is also the host of The 8E8 Dental Marketing Show – a weekly show on YouTube answering dentistry’s most important marketing questions.
Josh grew up off of Compton Avenue on south side of Los Angeles, so he considers himself part “thug.” Currently he resides in New Albany, Ohio – a white, picket fence community where the most gangsta thing he ever does is listen to Jay-Z with the car windows rolled down. He’s been married for over 21 years to his high school best friend, Joanna and has two children, Caden (11) and Aliya (7).

Challenge traditional business norms: Joshua shares how they challenged the traditional approach to running a business by rethinking office space and team dynamics. They implemented a flexible work environment where team members could work remotely and focused on hiring self-driven individuals. This insight encourages entrepreneurs to question conventional practices and explore alternative approaches that align with their vision.
Align marketing with overall business strategy: Marketing should be viewed as part of a holistic approach to running a successful business. Joshua stresses the importance of having a solid foundation in other aspects of the practice, such as patient experience, phone etiquette, and internal chemistry. Aligning marketing efforts with these fundamental aspects ensures a cohesive and effective strategy.

Joshua warns against overestimating what marketing alone can achieve and advises against seeking marketing as a quick fix solution. Understanding the limitations of marketing helps set realistic expectations and encourages a comprehensive approach to business growth.
Believe in yourself and seek support: Joshua’s advice to his younger self to believe in oneself resonates throughout the episode.
